Does anyone have any info on DECNET to B4.1c UNIX network support? Our computer graphics people here have a VMS system which they would like to connect with several UNIX systems on an ethernet. There is also a TOPS20 system here which would be nice to connect to... Thanks! Bill Nesheim Cornell University Computer Science Dept. Rather than trying to make your Unix Vax talk DECNET, why don't you make your VMS Vax talk TCP/IP. There is at least 1 vendor selling TCP/IP for VMS and at least 1 source for a free TCP/IP (plus telnet, ftp, etc. The free version comes with a driver for a Hyperchannel or can be configured to run with an Interlan ethernet controller). DEC may someday provide DECNET support for Vax Unix but if you are interested in communicating today, TCP/IP is the logical alternative. There is also a TCP/IP TOPS-20 system available from DEC. The current software is a bit slow but DEC is expected to release a much improved version soon. Ask your local DEC salesman (while you're at it, ask him about VMS TCP/IP).
