I am currently working on some Music education programs to run on the Apple Macintosh, and I would like to be able to interface the Macintosh to a MIDI keyboard or tone generator. I have a standard Apple serial port to MIDI adaptor, and would greatly appreciate some advice. The programs are being developed with the MPW Pascal System, and I would like to be able to call routines to send a byte to MIDI, test to see if a byte has been recieved and read a byte from MIDI. Specifically: 1) Can I use the RAM serial driver and toolbox interface routines? If so, what values for baud rate, stop bits parity and data bits should be used? or 2) Can anyone give me some advice on how to write and use a driver that will do the job? or 3) Can anyone give/sell me such a driver? I'm new to Machintosh programming, so any help would be very welcome. Thanks in anticipation, (Please email) Andrew Jenkins jenks@basser.cs.su.oz
