Television Transmitter Link Break-in
Max Headroom made a guest appearance on the WGN news last night and
then later during the WTTW broadcast of Doctor WHO. Was it really Max
Headroom, Or a "pirate" television hacker wanting to be seen. Sunday
night during the sports portion of the WGN news (channel 9, Chicago),
Max Headroom was seen on WGN's transmitter microwave feed. A few
moments later, technicians switched over to an alternate microwave link.
Max was removed from the air. Then later Sunday night, About 12 minutes
into WTTW's (channel 11, Chicago) broadcast of Doctor WHO, There was
an interuption in the program, then Max Headroom appeared. This time
Max was able to be heard, and he wasn't happy. Max was being spanked
with a fly-swatter.
A Doctor WHO fan who was interviewed was happy to hear from Max,
after Max Headroom had been canceled from ABC.
Security officers at the Sears Tower reported someone had entered
the remote transmitter facility atop the 100+ floor building.
The FCC is investigating.
Note: The remote transmitter for WGN is atop the John Hancock and the
transmitter for WTTW is atop the Sears Tower.
