According to sources at Southwestern Bell, residential modem users will not be required to pay tariff for the use of their phones with modems. Only the business users which operate their modems 24hr/7day will have to pay the tariff. The person I spoke with said that their phone has been rinning off the wall with angry modem users, and a friend said that the person he reached at SWB had received calls from all over the country asking what they planned to do about modems.
