Seen in a recent Western Union operations report: SPECIAL REPORTS: Cable Failure; St. Louis, MO Failed from 9 am on 5/14 to 6 pm on 5/15 due to 290 feet of St. Louis cable number 19 . . . being stolen. Yup! And I remember some news reports from Texas a few years ago
about (would you believe?) HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER LINES having large
hunks stolen from them. Seems the scrap metal market was a bit
tight back then, and...
