[net.dcom] 20lb in a 5lb sack - IT IS REAL

cyrus@symplex.UUCP (06/04/84)

Mark Horton's original request was in regard to 2400 bps async. Now
that we are discussing 19.2K bps (sync makes more sense here) I feel
the need to throw my 1.5 cents in.

Symplex Communications has been selling a 2:1 4 channel data
compressor/multiplexer called the DATAMIZER for almost one year now.
We have more than 100 satisfied customers most of whom are redesigning
their networks around our box. We are continually improving the
product to meet the ever increasing needs of our customers.

The key to making compression viable is to be ADAPTIVE. The datamizer
contains a number of compression schemes all of which are ADAPTIVE.
This means no matter what kind of data you send, the datamizer adjusts
it's encoding tables to match the statistical nature of your data. We
even compress data that has already been compressed!

Each of the datamizers four host channels can be programmed
independently for any protocol. Protocols we are running on today in
production environments include, IBM 2780, 3780, 3270, Primenet, HDLC,
SDLC, X.25, DDCMP, Honeywell VIP, HP poll select, and many more.

Product inquiries should be directed to our sales office:

Data compression IS here today.
