Regarding Jerry's point about the flurry of mailer error messages which are the invariable result of any submission to this list (and which almost inhibited me from said activity), the following type of solution is normal. First, note that mailers are supposed to send error reports to the address in the SMTP return-path address, i.e., the address indicated in the MAIL FROM:<path> SMTP command. This path indicates the precise (hopefully) route the message has taken from its original sender to its current destination. The normal solution is for the mailer servicing the mailing list (KL.SRI.COM in this case) to stuff this field with an address such as INFO-VAX-RELAY@KL.SRI.COM . INFO-VAX-RELAY could then be defined to point to the bit-bucket or to INFO-VAX-REQUEST so that our illustrious list maintainer could eventually remove particularly troublesome addresses from the list (wouldn't it be nice to have this done automatically? Perhaps a new header field indicating the offending address would accomplish this). Anyway, as I know that the Tops-20 mailer has this capability, I suggest that it be implemented for this list.
