Does anyone know whether an RD-53 shipped in a VaxStation 2000 will be format-compatible with the "same" unit found in a uVAX-II with an RQDX-3 controller? What I really want to know is whether I can remove a VaxStation's disk, install it in a BA-123 chassis, load it and then reinstall it. We plan to fire up an NI cluster eventually, but I want to avoid putting that in series with using the stations we have on order. Dave Barach (replies to "dave@bbn.com")

RD53 formats are compatible across versions of the RQDX3, as far as I've seen. However, there is no way to xfer between an RQDX2 and a RQDX3.
