Has anybody else noticed that it is possible to use the VAX C compiler Version 2.2-015 to kill a process? In writing some programs to automatically create C source code, I and another programmer discovered that if a Stream_LF file is created without the final delimiting <LF> (a problem only detectable by using the ANALYZE/RMS utility but easy have happen), the compiler, when attempting to digest this file, will terminate the process in which it is running without any warning or other notification. This will probably happen with Stream_CR files as well but we haven't wasted the time to find out... +----------------------------+------------------------------------------+ | Kurt Andersen | Jet Propulsion Laboratory | | MIPL Applications | Mail Stop 168-427 | | Programmer | 4800 Oak Grove Drive | | Office: 169-425 | Pasadena, Calif. 91109 | +----------------------------+-------------------------+----------------+ | NETWORKS: | Eat, drink and | | SPAN: KKA059@Mipl3 [128.149.1.28] | be merry... | | ARPA Internet: KKA059@Mipl3.Jpl.Nasa.Gov | | | ARPA/SPAN Gateway: KKA059@Su-Star.Stanford.Edu | for tomorrow | | or: KKA059@Jpl-Vlsi.Arpa | the system | | Ma Bell (R.I.P.): (818) 354-1672 | will crash. | +------------------------------------------------------+----------------+ | What's a MIPL? | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
