Hi there, Can anyone out there tell me about DECs printserver 40 device... I understand that it is a PostScript engine, connected via ethernet to the VAXen it serves. Now PostScript is a programming language, which has the concept of files built in to it - so the question is can files on the VAX sending output to the the printer over ethernet be accessed by the printer itself ? (That's a VAX running VMS in our case) Things this could be useful for include allowing the printer to cache character font files locally, and pull them from the host as it needs them, or grabbing figures for inclusion in TeX output. I guess this is going to depend on what protocol is used to access the printer... full DECNET, LAT or modified LAT etc. Thanks in advance, Dave Hines.
