Latey we have noticed that some terminals ports on our VAX tends to produce some high error counts when we do a SHOW ERROR. The strange thing is that none of our users complained about problems in using the system. The errors are confined to a few ports on our DH-11 and one of them had an error count of about 600. Is this something we should really worry about?

We also get high error counts on certain ports. Our ports with errors have either DECmates or Rainbow PC's on them. The DECmates in particular. I think the DECmates are "jabbering", sending ^S/^Q. The ports timeout resulting in an error. This is all suspicion and speculation. I'm not really sure what's going on. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Bob Paver (512) 338-3316 Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corp. Based on my own experience with this sort of problem, what's probably happening is that your users are turning off their terminals without logging out, or you're sending lots of broadcast messages to all terminals. When I see a high error rate on a terminal line, it generally means that an unterminated line is echoing garbage back at the computer.
