I guess the net is gettin' kinda feeble. I have only seen 2 responses about the MCI ad posted. However, I did get 3 pieces of mail on my article. Here is one: ============================================================= I seem to remember, from my novice days, while perusing through net.announce.newusers, a comment about the placing of ads (especially in net.general). Indeed this person should be shot, quartered and hung, in that order :-). Check out that news group for the regulation. You have here one vote to have that person banned from the net! I can handle private ads; for example: 1957 Chev. $350 :-); but asking me to stomach a corporate ad is absolutely rediculous. Let MCI pay like all good companies. Let me suggest a better idea than banning this chap from the net. Let MCI provide free lines between all machines which received the ad. That will show them! Feel free to post this once you have checked out the regulations. Randy Becker ============================================================= Good mailing, Randy. What *ARE* the regulations? Can & will any action be taken against the poster of that ad?! We wanna know! Who are the 'powers that be' that would handle something like this? And any folks at Bell or AT&T sites, how do you feel? Cheated? Mad? Confused with manical laughter in the background? What?! Ok, I'll be looking forward to your replies. (PS: I am also posting this to net.news.group because I feel it is too important to have just on net.flame where half of everybody just 'n's past it.) -- I don't practice what I preach because I am not the type of person I'm preaching to. In response to: > And any folks at Bell or AT&T sites, how do you feel? Cheated? > Mad? Confused with manical laughter in the background? What?! Actually, I only skimmed the ad once I realized that it was a commercial announcement. As I mentally contrasted the verbiage in the ad with the real state of the telecommunications world, my only reaction was that the ad was misposted. It should have been posted to net.jokes.
