PLEASE, enough on the definitions and debates on hackers and programmers! You could easily argue the definition of any word, and have different viewpoints. Everyone has their own idea of what a hacker is and isn't, and I don't think going back and forth about it for two weeks is a very useful way to be shuffling these bits around the world. This is nearly as ridiculous as the Unix/VMS competition of a couple months ago! As for the one who seems to be the judge on what is a stupid question and what warrants looking through the manual, are you sure that your questions to the net aren't boring everyone else...? I'm in the process of learning a few things about Unix, and I certainly hope that the 'experts' I ask aren't so impatient as to throw manuals at me rather than share something that may be simple to them. Let's remember that there is are very many levels of knowledge and expertise on this net. There's no need for the ones who may be at a higher level to become cocky about it. There is probably no question that could be asked that would not be thought 'stupid' by someone.
