A friend without net access asked me to post the following query. Please send your responses to me and I will forward them. Thanks in advance...todd ----- >% cut here %< ------ We are considering several word processing packages which run on both VAXes (VMS) and on IBM PCs & compatibles. Since WordPerfect already has a strong following in the PC world, we are considering using it under VMS on the VAX to bridge the PC and mini worlds. Does anyone have any experience using the VAX VMS version of WordPerfect? 1) How does the user interface (keyboarding) compare with the PC version? 2) Do formatted files (non-ASCII binary) cleanly transfer between the two environments? 3) How simple is the transition from VAX WordPerfect to PC WordPerfect? Have you found that users can switch between the two versions easily (i.e., without getting confused because of slightly different command sequences, etc.)? 4) How effective is the VAX version in terms of file sharing (i.e., many users work with the same file). Has anyone switched from WORD-11 or any other VAX word processor to WordPerfect? We would like to hear about your experiences. In particular we are interested in file/document conversions and other technical comments about the transition. ----- >% cut here %< ------ Please respond to the address below... -- Todd Ogasawara, U. of Hawaii Center for Teaching Excellence UUCP: {ihnp4,seismo,ucbvax,dcdwest}!sdcsvax!nosc!uhccux!todd ARPA: uhccux!todd@nosc.MIL INTERNET: todd@uhccux.UHCC.HAWAII.EDU
