We have a MICOM Micro600/2. We have a bunch (about 20) ports connected to a Dec 2060 running TOPS-20 5.0, with the baud rate set at 9600 baud; and about 10 ports connected to a Vax 11/780 running 4.1 BSD, set up as autobaud. There are about 70 terminals connected up to lines, set up at 9600 baud, plus several dial up lines set up at autobaud. There are several problems we are encountering: 1. Connections from the terminals to both the -20 and the Vax are occasionally dropped. There doesn't seem to be any connection between activity on the line and the connection being dropped - sometimes it dies while you are typing on the terminal, sometimes while you are watching output some to the terminal, sometimes while nothing is going on. We recently had some maintainene work done on the Micro600, but its too early to tell whether this has totally cured the problem. Among the things they did was to add more RAM. 2. Especially while using the Vax, and sometimes the -20, when there is alot of output coming at the terminal at 9600 baud, the connection will be dropped. This is most annoying, and we would like very much to get to the bottom of this. The terminal we are using most are Zenith-19 and Zenith-29's. 3. The lines to the Vax seem to die occasionally and go out of service. This always happens when we take the system down, which is expected, but it also seems to happen at other times to a port here or there (not the same port consistently) and we sometimes come back from a weekend and find 4 of 8 ports out of service for no reason we can see. Any light anyone can shed on Micro600's in general will be gratefully accepted!! --- Steve ..!cbosgd!osu-dbs!romig ..!apr!osu-dbs!romig romig@ohio-state.csnet
