[comp.os.vms] 3780 protocol running on VMS

FSIMMONS@UMNDUL.BITNET (07/24/87)

Is there a software package that runs on VMS that will allow a unit using 3780
protocol to talk to VMS?

Thanks

DEC sells one, it is not extremely robust. They seem to have realized
that very few of us really WANT to talk such obsolete protocols as
2780/3780 and I doubt it has had any development in years. This product
is so out-of-character for DEC that the Software Specialists in Co Springs
freely give out the name and number of the last surviving Deccie who will
admit to knowing anything about it..."Vinnie". He's back east somewhere
and actually gave us quite a lot of help.

Anyway, the dec product number for the book in front of me is
AA-H473B-TE VAX 2780/3780 Protocol Emulator User's Guide and
describes product Q*111-** if that helps you any. We use this
beastly product on DUP11s talking to 4800-baud modems. Luck.
