I am looking for software, for a VAX/VMS environment that will convert files in tex.dvi format to files that can be spooled to an HP LaserJet+. This software can be either in the public domain or a product for sale. If in the public domain I would prefer if it is written in C but will take anything. Thanks in advance *------------------------------------------*----------------------------------* |ACSNET rim@comdyn | O_o | | | =( )= Ackphht! | |Roderick McAllery | U | *------------------------------------------*----------------------------------* | As surgery is to medicine, systems programming is to software engineering. | *-----------------------------------------------------------------------------*

An excellent TeX driver for the HP LaserJet - and several other devices - is available, free, from the University of Utah. Write to the author at: "Nelson H.F. Beebe" <Beebe@SCIENCE.UTAH.EDU> (Unfortunately, the VMS version doesn't work quite right - a couple of very minor problems. I recently fixed it to work correctly on a LaserJet Plus - which, BTW, is recommended for TeX; you can use a straight LaserJet, but the limitations will show.) I'll be sending my patches back to Mr. Beebe "one of these days"; in the meantime, if you decide to use this software, write to me and I'll send you what I've got.) The software is written in very portable C - it (at least theoretically) runs on Unix, TOPS-20, VMS, and MS-DOS, and drives about 6 or 7 different kinds of printers. It's all PD. And before you ask...I am NOT willing to re-distribute this software. Contact the author. BTW, my experience with the stuff so far has been EXTREMELY positive - best driver I've seen, actually. -- Jerry -------
