There is a product called the BLACK JACK made by the Microperipheral Corp. which may help the traveler. It looks like the piece that screws onto the handset, and in fact replaces the mouthpiece (transmitter). Instead of having a transmitter element, it has a RJ-11 jack. It's made of some soft stuff, which allows you to just press it into place. There seems to be enough sidetone to allow the modem receiver to work. About $4.00 -+. I've tried it, and it seems to work.
