Has anyone out there installed a System Industries SI55 drive with QDA4E controller on a MicroVAX II in conjunction with the DEC RQDX3 controller? A few questions: 1. Can the MicroVAX support both controllers (QDA4E and RQDX3) simultaneously (assume we have enough backplane space and power)? 2. How do you find the performance and reliablility of the System Industries products? 3. Did you have any hassles getting maintenance on the third party hardware (from DEC)? 4. Although this controller emulates the MSCP protocol, are there likely to be any problems with future upgrdade to VMS (i.e. V5.0)? 5. If the MicroVAX was part of an LAVC, could the SI drive be set to served so that is accessible from the boot node (or any other nodes in the LAVC) as well?
