I just read Stefan Weirauch's message about messages that had been sent to INFO-VAX distribution and which were insulting to him. I admit that I never saw any of the messages (except for Stefan's response), but from what little I've seen I'm a curious. Was it necessary or appropriate to insult Stefan and company? Let me rephase that: It was NOT necessary. Was it appropriate? I certainly don't think so. If you have a problem with the stuff that Stefan put on the net, then please feel free to tell everyone why, but please refrain from the personal abuse. Furthermore, I believe that these personal attacks show just a bit of irresponsibility. It is very easy to attack someone with relative anonyminity over the network. Stefan is over in Germany, right? It is always harder for the attacked to rebuild their reputation without having to stoop to the attacker's level. Some of what happens with politians and the media is good example of this. Let's keep the dirt off the net, please? Finally, Stefan: you should be commended for your level-headed response to Roy's message. If I had been in your shoes, I would not have been nearly as restrained. Flame off, and thanks for enduring my tirade. -- Paul Stodghill Bitnet: STODGHIP@DICKINSN.Bitnet USMail: Computer Center Dickinson College Carlisle, PA 17013
