All of the disks in our academic environment have disk quotas enabled for various reasons. Not everyone has a quota entry on every disk. However, we have more and more situations which require people to be able to write or update a file on a disk on which they don't have a quota allotment. Currently, we've been writing programs to do this and installing them with privileges (usually sysprv and exquota). What other ways might we be able to allow world write to a disk in a controlled fashion, without having to create many disk quota entries? Identifiers with the resource attribute, a disk with no quotas enabled? What problems might be associated with these solutions? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. If I get useful feedback, I'll summarize to the net. Dave Neiman Carleton College Northfield, MN 55057 (507) 663-4277 csnet: dneiman@carleton.edu
