[net.dcom] From a recent WU specification

rf@wu1.UUCP (12/13/84)

Part of the proposed test procedure for a recent Western Union
terminal adapter consists of telephoning the owner and having
him place the telephone mouthpiece next to the terminal
adapter's monitor speaker. As result *all* the sounds made by
the terminal adapter must be standardized. So, the
specification contains:

  2.2.7 Charge Signal

Terminal adapters can use their built-in speaker to
sound a six-note melody resembling "Charge." Any method of
generating this signal may be used.

One way to sound "Charge" is to go on-hook and
  sound the following dialing tones:

	    a. "1", 125 milliseconds
	    b. "4", 125 ms.
	    c. "2", 125 ms.
	    d. "#", 400 ms.
	    e. Silence, 250 ms.
	    f. "2", 125 ms.
	    g. "#", 750 ms.
