[comp.os.vms] TOPS20/Unix things

sy.Ken@CU20B.COLUMBIA.EDU (Ken Rossman) (09/06/87)

PK:<SOURCE.TOPSUX> was recently created on CU20B.COLUMBIA.EDU for the
purpose of storing source code useful for TOPS-to-Unix conversion, and/or
intercommunication. For example, I am working on a version of a DUMPER
tape reader written in C which will be placed in this directory when done.
I believe there are also some TAR tape reader/writer programs around which,
if I can find them, I will place in PK:<SOURCE.TOPSUX> also. Hopefully,
we'll be able to build up a Tops/Unix library here.

The CU20B system-wide logical name TOPSUX: now points to PK:<SOURCE.TOPSUX>
to make file transfers simpler. The archive file for the Info-TOPSUX
mailing list was moved recently to PK:<SOURCE.TOPSUX>MAIL.TXT, from its
previous location in WS:<TOPSUX> (which no longer exists).

At this point, I'd like like to make a request to those who might be
willing to contribute any software that fits the category mentioned above
(i.e. software that is either TOPS-20 to Unix integration, migration, or
intercommunication). If anyone is willing to contribute software, I'd like
to collect it here on CU20B in the TOPSUX: directory for general
redistribution to any and all interested parties. I'd also be interested
in hearing about any work on such software that might currently be in
progress.

And as usual, in case there are new folks to any of the lists this mail is
being posted to, there are two mailing lists here on CU20B that may be of
interest to those running TOPS-20 and Unix systems. They are Info-TOPSUX
(TOPS-to-Unix conversion issues), and Info-CCMD (a list pertaining to the
C language COMND Jsys emulation package being developed here). If you wish
to be added to either of these lists, send mail to Info-TOPSUX-Request or
Info-CCMD-Request here at CU20B.COLUMBIA.EDU.

As always, CCMD source code is available from CU20B.COLUMBIA.EDU via
ANONYMOUS FTP in directory "CCMD:". /Ken
