Problem: Someone at our site wishes to upload parallel data at high speeds from a PC LAN to a VAX 780. The parallel port on a DMF32 is available for this purpose. Question 1: Does anyone know if the standard LC driver provided by DEC (normally used for card readers) can be used without too much difficulty for this application? Question 2: Does anyone know of another Digital-supplied driver that could be used? Question 3: Has anyone ever tried to use the DMF32 parallel port driver called XIDRIVER (provided by DECUS)? The program was authored in January 1983 by Kwang H. Kim of R.C.A. in Burlington, Massachusetts. Question 4: Has anyone heard of any known bugs/fixes to the XIDRIVER described above, or the author's current whereabouts or electronic mail address(es)? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. -Larry Hughes "hughes@gold.bacs.indiana.edu"

>Question 1: Does anyone know if the standard LC driver provided >by DEC (normally used for card readers) can be used without too >much difficulty for this application? The LCDRIVER is an output-only driver to drive a printer (just like the LPDRIVER for LP11 interfaces is also output-only). When the parallel port is configured to drive a printer, its only an output port. = Frank J.
