They were solved by increasing the amount of system paged dynamic memory (PAGEDYN system parameter). VWS likes lots and lots of PAGEDYN, as referenced by the SHOW MEMORY output from one our VAXStations (system was idle at time, I logged in with SET HOST): System Memory Resources on 16-SEP-1987 15:08:36.06 Physical Memory Usage (pages): Total Free In Use Modified Main Memory (13.00Mb) 26624 19602 6859 163 Slot Usage (slots): Total Free Resident Swapped Process Entry Slots 32 15 17 0 Balance Set Slots 30 15 15 0 Fixed-Size Pool Areas (packets): Total Free In Use Size Small Packet (SRP) List 360 46 314 96 I/O Request Packet (IRP) List 230 51 179 208 Large Packet (LRP) List 24 16 8 1584 Dynamic Memory Usage (bytes): Total Free In Use Largest Nonpaged Dynamic Memory 383488 124416 259072 113904 Paged Dynamic Memory 2410496 991696 1418800 979280 Paging File Usage (pages): Free In Use Total DISK$MICROVMS:[SYS0.SYSEXE]SWAPFILE.SYS 5104 4896 10000 DISK$MICROVMS:[SYS0.SYSEXE]PAGEFILE.SYS 4127 873 5000 Of the physical pages in use, 3863 pages are permanently allocated to VMS. = Frank J.
