I have worked for General Dynamics in Fort Worth and I came across a
great foreign tape utility and the greatest part is that it is public
domain software available through DECUS.
The author also worked for GD and I had the priveledge to work with him
in an environment where we used the utility a great deal. The program
is called MGT and it can read ASCII, EBCDIC, CDC, ANSI standard, labeled,
unlabeled, and tapes that your not even sure of (Well maybe I shouldn't
go that far, but I have read many tapes with MGT in which the owner of
the tape did not even know how it was written!!!). The utility is easy
to use and has several advantages because it has been refined over a
good amount of time. Look for it in your collection of DECUS tapes. I am
not sure which one it is in, but try SPRING '86 first. If you have any
