Another source of this type of message is due to insufficient logical name table quota. The message is not clearly related to the problem -- back to the days of the OLD(!) non-specific NOQUOTA or INSUFPRIV type problems. The message only tells you that some service couldn't allocate virtual memory in some space it tried to get at. There are many possibilities -- but the most likely one (since you mention defining LOTS of logical names before it happens) is JTQUOTA. CHECK your JTQUOTA for the username(s) involved -- this has bitten many an unhappy user who don't realize that the default JTQUOTA for users is pitifully small. We set ours to 4096 or more. To see how much is actually in use before you get the message try SHOW LOG/FULL/JOB. Note the numbers in [space remaining, quota] Here's an example: (LNM$JOB_805F0050) [kernel] [shareable] [Quota=(880,4096)] [Protection=(RWED,RWED,,)] [Owner=[ME]] ... ----------------------------------------------------------------- Bob Boyd Usenet: rlb@rtpark.rtp.ge.com GE Microelectronics Ctr.
