We've endured the bouncing circuit problem too. Our central net consists mostly of 780/5's at VMS 4.2 and MicroVaxes at 4.4. The bouncing circuits have been exclusively with the MicroVaxes, however-- never with any routing node. DEC Colorado has told us that yes, they are aware of the problem, that it is with end nodes under 4.4/4.5, and that it is fixed in 4.6. At the same time, we realized that we had far more routing nodes on the net than we should (I think DEC says 10 max). We cut back to four, and surprisingly, the MicroVax bouncing circuit problem dropped to almost nil. Doug Grover Academic Computing Indiana University
