Greetings, Many thanks to the people who have provided answers to some of the problems with programming the GPX using VWS. The bitmap problems were indeed based on not using COPY mode. Unfortunately, this information was documented in the VWS 3.0 release notes. When DEC sent me VWS, I got v3.1 and they didn't send the v3.0 release notes till later. Most of the replies are in agreement that the VWS manuals are not up to par with the rest of DEC's manual sets (which, having used most of the 'major' operating systems and machines available for the past 15 years, are in my opinion the best written manuals overall. Sad isn't it). More importantly though, I would like to address a problem with many of the replies on the net. A lot of the replies have taken on a rather nasty tone ("go away and RTFM" types). Whether or not so intended, unpleasant responses should be avoided. Having gotten one of these myself, I am some- what offended. I have indeed read the entire manual set (in fact, every manual set since VMS v1. something or another). I give congratulations to anyone who can take complete advantage of what VMS offers without needing to refer vack to the manuals. Outside of Bruce Ellis, I can't think of any- one who can do this, and the amount of information contained in the books is large enough that it's not surprising that people often can't find the information they require. Please, in the future, carefully consider the text of the messages you are sending to the net. While one may certainly wish physical abuse on malicious intruders (deliberate attempt to avoid the 6 letter H word), broadcasting such to thousands of people is probably not a good idea. At the very least, if you must send such messages, send them directly to the recipient, not to the world. Enough said. Let's try and avoid a worldwide conference on good manners and get back to using this forum for its original purpose; like answer the question of how to change line style when using Drawing Operation Primitives (DOPs) on the GPX. I am following the book word for word, and I still can't get it to work. Sigh. David M.
