Help? Where I work, we run multiple vaxen (not yet in a clustered environment) and have a DECserver-200 connected through Ethernet. What I would like to do is connect our Hayes-compatible modem to the DECserver and configure it such that it can dial out, as well as allow others to dial-in. The initial idea was simple, use a suitably-privileged port on the DECserver to modify the modem's port to be "dynamic" (allowing the line to be dynamically set as a remote or local port), then used LATCP to create a LTAx device, and connect it logically to the DECserver port. This worked fine and dandy. However, we need to dial out on the modem at 300, 1200, AND 2400 baud. The server manual basically says you can have only two speeds, a standard and "alternate" speed. What I would like to be able to do is to set the speed for the port by using a command such as SET TERMINAL/SPEED=2400 LTA1: . However, I need to be able to do this for 3 speeds. (PS: yes, it can always be done from a privileged port on the DECserver, but I want it to work so that unprivileged users can do it...and without headaches). Has anyone solved this problem, or are the hardware constraints limiting enough where this isn't feasable (yet?). Any help on this would be very much appreciated. =============================================================================== Gil Kloepfer, Jr. ...ihnp4!icus!gil Senior Programmer (or whatever path works best Bowne Management Systems, Inc. on the day you reply!)
