The declaration of the C function FREE in the manual for the VAXC run-time libraries, and the declaration in STDLIB.H are *DIFFERENT*. DEC say that the code itself is the same as in STDLIB i.e. FREE is declared: void free(void *pointer); which, apparently, conforms to the ANSI standard.
