I know absolutely nothing about DEC's Distributed Queuing, BUT: I would be very suspicious of that part of the startup file having to be executed every time your system boots. Once that object has been defined in your permanent DECnet database (which is what the DEFINE does), you should only ever have to do a SET KNOWN OBJECTS ALL on startup after that. Unless you wipe out your database, of course. But since it is kept on disk, system reboots won't do that. Check with someone else who is running DSQ to be sure, but it would be my guess that you could delete the DEFINE part after it has been done once. And the SET statement should not need the password in it (in fact, your standard sys$manager:startnet.com file provided with DECnet should look after the SET anyway).
