>Does anyone know of a 9600 baud asynchronous dialup modem usable >with VMS asynchronous dynamic DECnet? I used microcom AX/9624c's. It took some playing around to get them to work but they worked fairly well. (I can send the settings I used to people who are interested.) What kind of flow control are the modems dealing with? xon xoff or cts ect? Also what are the VMS versions, machines and ports(dz,dmf, etc). uVMS 4.3 has a bug where it has to be the CALLED side of a dynamic async decnet link(it doesn't correctly handle the escape codes sent be the remote machine telling it to switch to ddcmp, it also didn't deal with the manual switching to ddcmp). As for general set up, remember decnet wants eightbit noparity. A resonable test seems to be SET HOST/DTE ttyport; have the modem call the remote site; type LARGE text files; when you can do that without corruption, then try and start decnet. I have a request by a user to set up a dynamic async decnet link. I played around with dynamic async decnet at vms 4.2 a couple of years ago with no success. Has anyone successfully run it at vms 4.5 or vms 4.6? If you have run it successfully do you have any suggestions for me? If you have tried it but failed I would appreciate hearing that also. You can respond to mike@phast.phys.washington.edu or mike@uwaphast.bitnet (the internet address may not work for all sites). Thanks for your help. Mike Eklund University of Washington
