Does anyone have a copy of PMDF (public domain mail system)? I can get it for the cost of distribution by mailing in a tape, but paperwork over here is slow.

(Pascal refers to the language that the software is written in). It is NOT public domain, according to the documentation on the distribution tape. (We have obtained the software, but otherwise have no connections with Harvey Mudd College or the authors). The distribution notes include the following statements regarding redistribution from sites that have obtained it from Harvey Mudd College or CSNET: "PMDF may be installed on as many systems as desired at a single site. Redistribution of PMDF to other sites is prohibited. PMDF will not be distributed and is not available via network FTP or Internet MAIL." [ from PMDF_ROOT:[DOC]PMDFDIST.MEM on distribution tape ] If you want to avoid legal problems, I suggest you order PMDF from the authors. Here's more of the distribution file regarding obtaining PMDF (others have requested it): "PMDF can also be obtained for a $50 (US) distribution fee from: Ned Freed (ned@ymir.bitnet) The PMDF Project Computing Services Harvey Mudd College Claremont, CA 91711 (714) 621-8006 Please make checks payable to PMDF Project, Harvey Mudd College. The standard distribution contains a tape (a 9-track 1600 BPI magtape written in VMS BACKUP format) and about 100 pages of printed documentation. Please indicate if your site is using Wollongong TCP/IP; support for Wollongong TCP/IP can only be shipped to properly licensed sites." -- Jim Patterson Cognos Incorporated UUCP:decvax!utzoo!dciem!nrcaer!cognos!jimp P.O.
