Leo Geoffrion asked for a "workaround" to the fact that asynch DECnet is not supported via ports on a DECserver providing LAT terminal service. As he has noticed, the DECserver was not designed to support asynch DECnet, and is not supported for that purpose. The DECrouter 200 was designed to support asynch DECnet at line speeds up to 19.2K, and will support up to 8 local or remote connections. Since it uses a dedicated hardware base (the DSRVC), it puts no direct load on any VAX processors attached to the same Ethernet. It provides level 1 routing (intra-area). You can find more information on the DECrouter 200 in the Networks and Communications Buyer's Guide. Your local DEC sales office should be able to provide you with a copy. It is updated quarterly.
