I have been doing some RMS operations on files and I have been having trouble getting a filename returned from an OPEN call. I am using the FID and DID to specify the file, FAB$B_FOP option FAB$V_NAM set, and in the manual(s) it species that the ESA and RSA buffers will not be filled when this option is set. But, I want the filename. All I have is the File ID, i.e. (9893,1,0) and the directory ID and the device. I am trying to get the name. Is it possible to do this? If so, would it also be possible to write a failry short program which could attempt to open files (i,j,0) and loop i from 1 to 65535 and j up to some arbitrary limit, say 99, and check for all accessible files on the system , and what directory they are in, etc? -- Jeff Capehart Internet: micronaut%oak.decnet@pine.circa.ufl.edu University of Florida UUCP: ..!ihnp4!codas!ufcsv!beach.cis.ufl.edu!jdc
