Gregory,
finally I have been able to asseemble and upload the more or less complete
MicroEmacs distribution and Jonathan's own Version of Emacs (aka JoVE). I
have mailed all the files to Bruno Durasse of the LISTSERV management at
BNANDP11 which redistributes the UNIX-EMACS list to the BITNET folks.
If one wants to order something one sends an interactive command, a file, a
mail or a NOTE to
listserv@bnandp11.BITNET
Users not having done this before should put the command HELP into the
note.
I have sent the following files:
MicroEmacs Version 3.9e
EMACSDIS UUE 133540 10.12.87 17.06 Distribution Kit
EMACSDOC UUE 237297 10.12.87 17.07 Documentation
EMACSSRC UUE 433877 10.12.87 17.08 All Sources
Jonathan's own Version of Emacs 4.2
JOVEDOC UUE 206832 10.12.87 17.09 Documentation
JOVEEXE UUE 253602 10.12.87 17.10 Executables
JOVESRC UUE 323847 10.12.87 17.11 All MS-DOS Sources
JOVEUNX UUE 196256 10.12.87 17.12 Shar files for Unix JoVE
PKX35A35 UUE 100564 10.12.87 17.12 Phil Katz's ARChive Program
UUCODE UUE 62754 10.12.87 17.13 Richard Marks' uuEN/DEcoders
UUDECODE PAS 5370 7.09.86 20.07 Cathy Harmon's bootstrap uuDEcoder
To extract procede as follows:
Get the files you need and load them down to the PC.
If you do not have a fast uuDEcoder already compile UUDECODE.PAS with
Turbo-Pascal. Run UUDECODE UUCODE.UUE to produce UUCODE.EXE, which is a
selfextracting ARChive file. Run UUCODE.EXE to produce UUDE.COM and
UUEN.COM. Throw away UUDECODE.* as it is VERY slow.
Now run UUDE.COM on all files you want to extract. When successful you
can delete *.UUE.
Now call up the PKX35A35.EXE to produce some files namely PKXARC.COM and
run PKXARC *.ARC to extract all files from all ARChives.
The distribution kit EMACSDIS.EXE (UUE) has been produced with Phil Katz's
marvelous PKARC program. This comes with a routine to be copied to the ARC
producing an EXE file. When you run this it selfextracts everything
contained in the archive. It contains just EMACS.EXE with the necessary RC
and HLP files plus the TUTorial. (I have to confess that I heavily modified
the function keys' bindings)
I have included in the source archive the original files plus the versions
I modified so I guess anybody not happy with my bindings can just recompile
it.
MicroEmacs has been written by Dan Lawrence <nwd@j.cs.purdue.EDU>.
JoVE has been written by Jonathan Payne <jpayne@cs.rochester.EDU> and
Karl Gegenfurtner <karl@hipl.psych.nyu.EDU> has ported JoVE to MS-DOS.
Bruno Durasse <durasse@bnandp11.BITNET> has agreed to store the files on
LISTSERV so they are the people thank. (Well done, folks !)
Regards,
