I am running a VAXstation II/GPX uVMS 4.4. You left out the most important piece of information: What version of UIS (VWS) are you running? Does anyone know how to obtain the VD_ID and/or WD_ID for the UIS window which is the emulated VT220 Terminal for the process? You can't. (In versions of UIS earlier than 3.2, there was an undocumented routine that returned the value, but using the result could completely confuse the emulator and quickly lead to crashes. In 3.2, this becomes completely impossible, since the id's are specific to the "Emulators" process, and have no meaning in your process.) What I wish to do is change the banner for the terminal from "VT220 Terminal" to something useful, and also shrink the terminal window to an icon under DCL/program control and then expand it again. Install V3.2 and check the documentation for the description of the terminal OSC sequences. Both of these things can be done using these sequences, and a lot more besides. -- Jerry
