We're about to embark on a project which involves running ethernet over a broadband LAN. Does anyone have experience with products which do this which they'd share? We have a Sytek LAN and are looking at DEC's DECOM and DEFTR units: the DECOM is the broadband transceiver, and the DEFTR is used at the LAN head-end. We want to be able to put diskless SUN workstations in any of several different buildings, and run them off a server in yet another building. Inter-building distances are all less than 2500 feet. Replacing the Sytek system is not an option, but we're certainly not wedded to the DECOM or DEFTR. What else should we be considering? Is there anyone on this list using a Sytek system for this? I'll gladly summarize responses to the list. Thanks. Richard Muller Bitnet: rmuller@hampvms Internet: rmuller%hampvms.bitnet@cunyvm.cuny.edu Hampshire College Amherst Massachusetts 01002
