[comp.os.vms] PD tar for VMS written in C available

IUS@DACTH51.BITNET (Eberhard W. Lisse) (01/11/88)

Pete Schmitt inquired about the availability of a Public-Domaine tar
program for VMS.

I have such a beast written in C. Unfortunately I have stored it on the
hospital machine which I can not access from this one for security reasons.
I'll VMSshar the sources this afternoon and post them to the list, as I
gather there might be sufficient interest.

Also does my VMS-UUencoder not work correctly, if someone sent me a working
version I could make up a package including the binaries for the machines
without a C-Compiler. This I would do only on request.

I also have the public domaine tar written by the GNU people which works on
all sorts of machines (unix and ms-dos) but not yet on VMS. If anybody is
interested in porting the VMS-tar into the GNU-tar send me a note and I'll
beam everything over.

regards, el
