[comp.os.vms] SET WATCH

V2002A@TEMPLEVM.BITNET (01/15/88)

Hi,

I tried SET WATCH/CLASS=ALL FILE on my uVAX II (VMS 4.5),
and I got "%SYSTEM-F-NOPRIV, no privilege for attempted operation"
What privilege(s) do I need? I could do a "SET PROC/PRIV=ALL", but
that seemed clumsy. Also, could the 'watching' being done interfere
with other system functions? For example, If I watch a mailbox file
will ALL-IN-ONE complain that the file is locked? Maybe DEC
discovered just such a problem and stopped supporting "set watch".

              Thanks in advance!

You need Change mode to Kernel priv. CMKRNL.

DEC hasn't stopped supporting SET WATCH, they never started!
