[comp.os.vms] items of general interest

A recent question apologized for not being of the deep-lore category,
and invited private responses rather than clutter the info-vax air.

I, for one, would welcome general answers to such "simple" questions
(this one was an ACL-related question). All of us haven't explored
all of VAX/VMS-land (yet). There'll always be something new which
will save us hours of wheel (or manual-page) spinning, or will suggest
an alternate (better) way of doing something we're already doing.
This list has a large enough, diverse enough, readership that any
question probably exists in multiple minds, and any answer will
help more than one person.

But a much more efficient way would be to mail the answer (or what you think
it is) to the person in question, and then, after a week or so, that person
summarizing the replies to the net, no?
