I want to thank folks who responded to my query a while back about using QIOW to write blocks on a labeled tape. As it finally turned out I simply needed to add the FIB$M_WRITE flag to the FIB. The error message "file not accessed on channel" certainly was misleading. Also, I have no idea why it took nearly 2 weeks for my question to get onto Info-Vax. Somebody out there is holding things up and I'd sure like to hear an excuse.
