Hello: We are upgrading from a 785 to a 8530 and have been confronted with the problem that the LP27 long-line option is not supported on the bi-bus as it was with the unibus. If we string it out at 50 feet we will have to leave it in the ceiling somewhere. So my first question is: does anyone have any idea how to get around this problem other than buying a unibus adapter and cabinet and using the unibus long-line card? The second question is: if I do buy the adapter and cabinet, what if any performance penalty, and/or regrets/curses will I experience later on? As a final question what does everyone think of the DECserver 500, and has anyone tried using the RS423 to RS232 adapters?
