Here at LCRA we have a microwave system connecting our offices in Austin to all of our dam sites, up to 100 miles away. We have placed printers at the dams connected to modems and wish to dial out of the VAX to dump hourly reports to the operators at those sites. We have a small program that dials out on a Hayes modem and it seems to work fine except when there is a lot of noise on the line. The program needs to interact with the modem, but the garbage throw the program out of sync. Is there any way to flush the typeahead buffer or some way to deal with this garbage? Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
