[comp.os.vms] How do you persuade VMS that a serial line isn't a terminal?

In a previous message, Anthony A. Datri writes:

< We've got a line off of a dmf-32 (one of the normal ones) connected to our
< Equinox port switch box for the purpose of getting to things like dialout
< modems. However, I'm getting lots and lots of LOGFAILS in the accounting
< file because VMS thinks that the occasional noise or Equinox prompt that
< comes over the line is a user trying to log in. On a Unix machine I'd
< just turn off the getty to the line, but I can't figure out what to do
< for VMS. Any ideas?

SET TERMINAL/PERMANENT/NOTYPE_AHEAD ttcu:

is what DEC Software Services told me too do. We do it at system startup
for all lines that are dedicated for such uses. See HELP SET TERMINAL
/TYPE_AHEAD...
