I've a client who must integrate a database with their upcoming product. Currently, they're looking at RDB, since it's a DEC product, and some vendor-independent package such as INFORMIX. My query is to those who may have experience with the latest release of RDB. I'd like any either qualitative or quantitative input on your perception of RDB; DEC's claims for optimization (so that it's better than DTR!), user interface, performance, etc. Given the choice between, say, INFORMIX and RDB, which would you choose, and why? I know this is somewhat open-ended, but at this point I have my own opinions, but would welcome others' views to give the customer a fair cross-section of input so they can make a reasonable decision (that they're going to have to live with for a long time...)
