Hello! I'd like to ask the informed public their thoughts and opinions HPGL, and GKS as graphics standards. I'm testing the waters, and looking for words of wisdom, and insight. I'm told it is somewhat like TEX since it produces device independent metafiles which can be converted for use with any existing hardware. What I'm after are the pros and cons of both (if any). Your reactions to which is widely available, or readily acceptable. I will be re-writing existing programs to adopt either one of these 'standards' this summer and I would like your input on pitfalls, shortcomings in implementation and maintenance (if any). We MAINLY use following output devices: o VERSATEK PRINTER/PLOTTER o Ramtek Video Display o HP LaserJet II o DSCAN Colour Plots/Image dumps If you use the above devices, or had experience with the aforementioned topics I'd like to hear from YOU! Sincerely, Naresh Sodha CS117151@YUSOL.BITNET
