[comp.os.vms] $FORCEX

XRBEO@VPFVM.BITNET (Bruce O'Neel) (03/16/88)

This WILL break come VMS 5.x, but on a decus tape (try 85c or 85d) there
was a cute little program which allowed you to shove something into
another terminal's input buffer. Of course, this only works if there
is a terminal attached to the job, i.e., it won't work in batch (Nor will
the on control_y trap.) It does work for control c (Which we've tried)
but may or may not work for control y. It was called force, and it was
written in basic and macro. It requires CMKRNL to work (if you are mucking
in kernal space, you need ....) but works for now.

There is also a company which makes a commercial product which does something
similar and claims that it won't break on V5.x. I believe that either they
market a product called CLYDE or they are CLYDE (something something ...)

Remember that sys$forcex can return an error code to DCL which might help.
