I would like to get some information about 3rd party disks and tapes that connect either to DEC controllers or to the other vendor's (VAXBI) controller (this is for a VAX 8530). So far we have dug up these disk alternatives (all of which attach to a KDB50): - System Industries SI485C (622MB drive) and SI393C (844MB) - AVIV's CDC850 (655M). Tapes: - System Industries 9625 Dual-density tape drive (contains controller), a TU78-lookalike -->Does anyone have any experience with these units? How reliable are they? How good is the SI support? -->Does anyone know of or have any other similar equipment? (Who markets it, how much does it cost, etc.)? -->I am not on INFO-VAX, so please reply directly to me. -->My apologies if this topic has already been exhausted; just point me to the relevent archives. Thanks in advance. T. Duttle, SYSTMD@NMSUVM1.BITNET New Mexico State Univ.
